Pumpkin Creek Academy at Sweet Harvest Homestead is a non- academic, enrichment program for preschoolers, ages 3.5 to 6 years. The classes are very small (open to only 4 students) and we focus on life skills, art, manners and nature study.
The program is inspired by the Montessori, and Waldorf educational method. It has proven to be an extremely effective way to learn about the beautiful world God created.
Our goal at Pumpkin Creek Academy is to create lifelong learners who are excited about the world around them. Children learn best by hands-on experience; in educating our own children, we found that short lessons, reading aloud from living books and plenty of fresh air and dirt made for beautiful learning and a happy childhood.
Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday, 9 am-noon.
A light lunch is served and the children help participate in the preparation of the meal by tossing the salad, setting the table, folding napkins, and other age-appropriate activities.
Pumpkin Creek Academy is located at our 12-acre hobby farm in Stanfield, North Carolina. (12 miles from the Mint Hill Exit #44 off I-485)
Wildlife, chickens, a donkey, and a sheep live on the property, and the land is peppered with persimmon and hickory nut trees. We harvest the fruit and nuts from our land every fall and make delicious cookies from them!
Pumpkin Creek (for which the Academy is named) is a tiny creek that runs near our property. In the spring, the banks of the creek are covered with mosses and daffodils, making it look like a fairy tale forest.
