Some people dream of meeting Hollywood movie stars, pro football players or popular authors. I enjoy meeting quilters. Although, meeting James Garner would be awfully fun, but I digress.
Today I had an opportunity to hear Georgia Bonesteel speak at the Catawba County Library. Now, if you are not familiar with Mrs. Bonesteeel, she is like Julia Child is to Cooking or Martha Stewart is to Beautiful Living. Georgia Bonesteel is THE Master Quilt Maker, in my humble opinion. In fact, after watching her retro quilting shows, putting together a quilt block clicked for me and I was able to finally understand and make some of those Cold Night Beauties myself.
She was just as kind and gracious in person as I knew she would be! What a great day it was to get to shake her hand and tell her “Thank You” for all of the great education that she provides!
She brought a huge collection of her quits to show to us. These in particular stuck out to me because they are quilts of Barn Quilts!
I was so excited to see them because my family and I make those! To see some of our work, click here...
